Premature Labour
Most pregnancies last around 40 weeks and babies born between 37 and 40 weeks are considered full-term. Babies born before 37 weeks are considered premature.
But what could be the causes for premature labour,
* Problems with the cervix, when it is too weak to hold the weight of the baby and uterus so it starts to open prematurely (called cervical incompetence).
* Multiple births. Fewer than half of all twin pregnancies last beyond 37 weeks. The average length of the pregnancy for triplets is 34 weeks. Find out more about giving birth to twins.
